This is a vintage Selmer Paris Mark VI tenor saxophone from 1957, serial number 69858. The first series of Mark VI tenors are a favorite choice with players looking for a rich resonant sound.

This saxophone is mostly in raw brass and is in solid physical condition from top to bottom. It was just freshly overhauled and cleaned up in our shop. The professional overhaul included a dissemble and cleaning followed by thorough key fitting and key regulation. While the horn was apart all new materials and pads were installed. The tenor is now showing off a fantastic set up with all new premium leather pads, metal dome resonators, new corks and new felts.

This particular tenor is with out the majority of its lacquer finish. If you look closely you can still see a little bit of the lacquer around a few of the keys and along some of the key ribbing. The physical body of the tenor is in great shape showing some history of repair. Because it is mostly in raw brass it is pretty hard to know the exact history. Looking over it carefully there has been some past solder repair as well as some body work around the bottom bow. Someone had an additional connecting arm added between the F and F# pad cups. This is a fairly standard modification we see on many Mark VIs. The idea of the modification is to add additional support in the bottom key stack. This saxophone is with a slightly later vintage Mark VI neck. The neck previously had a pickup removed and was repaired properly with a flush plug.

This tenor has been freshly overhauled in our shop and is playing up an absolute storm. It is a very smooth and free blowing player. It features a robust character with a warm color and a lot of personality. The tenor ships out in perfect playing condition with a Saxquest pro overhaul and a vintage Selmer flight case.
