Gorgeous condition Yamaha Custom EX (YAS-875EX) alto sax in spectacular original gold lacquer, serial number 222444. This alto looks fantastic and is a screaming player, an outstanding find for players looking for a top end professional Yamaha without spending the current “new” pricing.

This alto has greater than 99% original lacquer intact, showing only minor scratching and light typical wear. There is one tiny ping in the bottom bow that we'll remove during our pro set up, but no other previous damages or repairs, including no resolders. The original Custom G1 neck has never been damaged or pulled down. All in all this sax is about as pretty as a used horn can be, and will bring a lifetime of use to its next owner.

This horn came to us on all original pads with original Yamaha brown nylon resonators. The sax is currently in our shop and will ship with a fresh cleaning and adjustment. We'll replace any pads that are starting to show wear, as well as all key corks and felts. When we're done, you won't be able to tell this horn from a new one, it'll play as good (or better!) than the day it left the factory.

The Custom EX is sort of marketed as Yamaha's classical horn, and it definitely has a focused, warmer sound than the Custom Z, but I'd feel comfortable taking this horn to any gig. It plays with a big, strong sound, and when matched with a typical “jazz” mouthpiece, gives enough edge to cut well, while keeping an overall warmer depth of tone. Very nice player that can do it all. Ships in its original purple Yamaha case, which is also in pristine shape.
