Absolutely pristine condition Selmer Super Action 80 Serie II alto saxophone, serial number 598120. This horn looks about as nice as a used sax can look, with 99% original lacquer intact and no major playing wear of note. If you've been looking for a premium quality Selmer Paris, this alto fits the bill.

As you can see in the photos, the lacquer is just about perfect. The only past damage is found on one foot of the low C keyguard, which was pushed into the body in shipping to us. This is unfortunate, because there are no other previous repairs. We'll take that ding out, but unfortunately the foot of that guard may pop off in doing so, in which case we'll resolder it back in place (will burn some small lacquer in that area). The neck has never been pulled down and it too shows nearly perfect original lacquer coverage, and has all of the blue paint intact around the “S” of the octave key.

Because this horn has hardly been played, all of the factory original pads still look new, with original metal resonators. It has been sitting a long time so there are leaks, but the sax will go through our shop for a fresh pro adjustment, all included in the price. We'll replace any pads that haven't aged well, as well as all key adjustment corks and felts. We'll also optimize key heights and spring tensions for optimal feel and response.

Currently playing through some leaks, you can still feel the presence and color this alto plays with. Very dark sound, and while it is centered, it isn't so tight that you can't push it for a big sound. I can't wait to play it once our work is done! Excellent horn for the concert band/classical setting, but with the right mouthpiece, you can take it to any gig you want. Ships with its original Selmer Vanguard case with original leather case cover. The cover is in great shape too, though the zipper pulls are missing.
