This is a pristine, very lightly used Selmer Paris Reference 54 series alto sax, serial number 826480. This alto is just a couple years old, made shortly before the line was discontinued. Since you can no longer buy this model new, this is the next best thing, and available in “new” condition.

As you can see in the photos, there's no real wear to speak of. No major scratches, no lacquer wear, no dents or dings or past repairs. It really hasn't seen much playing at all. Pads are in new shape as well with original brown plastic resonators, and the sax did receive a pro set up from another shop when going to the first owner, so it has better material throughout and feels crisp and precise under your fingers.

This Reference plays with a warm, centered sound, but is more open than a Series II or III, giving the player more versatility. It offers just the right amount of positive resistance to give you something to push against, and response is fantastic. Lush tone from bottom to top. This alto ships in a new BAM Softpack case with case straps, and most of the new Selmer accessories, though is missing a mouthpiece (but does have a Selmer ligature and cap set).
